Nikia Johnson is a Richmond, Virginia native and rising junior at Howard University. She is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences with plans to pursue a career in healthcare or become a healthcare attorney. Nikia has been able to work with the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness’ policy team. This was an opportunity for Nikia to grow professionally, while allowing her to fight for the causes in which she is most passionate. The goal and overall mission of FFBWW aligns with Nikia, and she appreciates how the Foundation focuses on pouring into the community around it. Nikia shared, “This is an excellent way to uplift Black women within this population and establish a pattern for other communities to follow. Historically, Black women have been overlooked, underpaid, and denied basic rights, so it is imperative that organizations like these exist.” Nikia is excited to dive deeper into policy and learn how FFBWW is able to further their agenda through the Wisconsin legislature.
