The Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness was honored to receive the 2024 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award from Governor Tony Evers at the Wisconsin State Capitol yesterday. This recognition celebrates the ongoing and innovative efforts to make financial wellness a cornerstone of our mission to transform Black women’s lives and health.
Since 2012, our financial education and empowerment programs have reached over 1,500 women, with 150 impacted in 2024 alone through workshops and coaching. Our Well Black Woman® Market has also supported 76 women and minority-owned businesses in Dane County - creating opportunities for exposure, increased revenue and long-term sustainability.
With the support of key partners, including Summit Credit Union and TruStage, along with dynamic experts such as The Frugal Feminista, Kara Stevens, Amy Crowe of Summit Credit Union, Tiffany Malone of Own It: Building Black Wealth, Afra Smith of The Melanin Project and many others, our programs foster confidence, equip participants with actionable financial strategies, and provide critical tools to grow and sustain generational wealth.
We’re proud to be recognized for this movement and remain committed to advancing financial literacy and economic justice in Black communities across Wisconsin, and beyond!
